Call to Order and Welcome - Katherine

1. Officers’ Reports

   1. Where funds are going

      1. STEM money

         1. We talked about teachers creating wish lists by grade as a team and we will do our best to fulfill what we can.

      2. Floor mats- requested by Ms. Elliott - maybe this is a safety issue, so we need to consult the district

         1. Maintenance has already put in an order and they will hopefully be in soon

      3. Playground supplies - what items do children need? Can we store them in the current cages?

         1. Storage space will be made for supplies

         2. Outdoor supplies requested thus far include plastic horseshoes, bubbles, chalk, hula hoops

         3. Indoor recess supplies ideas include legos, board games, coloring activities, cup stacking, magnatiles

      4. Special request from teachers

         1. PTO asks that for larger teacher requests, the teacher comes to a PTO meeting to explain what they need

         2. PTO can vote, and either dedicate current funds to the request or dedicate a new fundraiser for the request

      5. Teacher snacks in lounge

         1. Need to come up with a budget and schedule for stocking the teachers lounge

      6. Field trip funding requested

         1. A bus costs $160

         2. Previous field trips done include the fourth grade visiting The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village, the first grade visiting the zoo

4. New Business

   1. September Activities - Katherine

      1. Mum orders due 9/16

   2. October Activities - Becky

      1. Bullying Prevention Month

         1. Caught with kindness- already in progress

         2. Bus bullying

         3. Paper chain

         4. Assembly

            1. Send ideas to Mrs Robinette and she will see if it is feasible

      2. 10/3 4:30-6:30 Mum order pickup

         1. We will need volunteers to help with pick up

            1. Becky/Katie to create Signupgenius for volunteers

         2. 9/16 is the last day to order

      3. 10/3-7 Homecoming week. Need necklaces, t-shirt preorder, stickers?

         1. Mrs Cox will figure out spirit week themes and let us know if she needs additional help

         2. T-shirt preorder form to go out next week

            1. Cox to send order form to Becky. Becky to edit form and send back to Cox for delivery to teacher classrooms

         3. Necklaces already delivered, will need order forms sent out the week before spirit week

            1. Becky will alter order form for beads. Cox to distribute to teachers

      4. 10/20 5:30-7 Trunk of Treat

         1. Candy donations- plan to send flyers out in beginning of October about Trunk or Treat and include the candy donation request and costume drive information

            1. Becky to create flyer

         2. Costume drive- will be organized in parent room and the school has a system for helping the children who need a costume

            1. Jamie/Cox to organize this effort

         3. Haunted bus- transportation very interested in being more involved, Jamie will contact them about having a haunted bus to walk through

         4. Sign up genius

            1. Get clarification on who sends this out. PTO or School? Just PTO does the trunks or whoever volunteers?

         5. Jamie to reach out to Bishop. They would like to participate with us.

            1. How many cars can the loop handle?

      5. 10/26 MSU vs UofM teacher tailgate lunch/snack

         1. Katie and Alisa are available to help grill but only if we get more parent volunteers to help!

         2. Will need approximately 500 hot dogs, Mrs Cox will help with more precise number

         3. Becky to send signupgenius for volunteers

      6. 10/27 Half day teacher conferences, lunch for teachers

         1. Need food delivered at noon. Will need volunteer to pick up the food and deliver to school

         2. Ideas mentioned include Jersey Mikes, Chipotle, GoodLyfe. Katie to contact GoodLyfe for updated pricing information

         3. Vegan and gluten free options needed, Mrs Cox will find out exactly how many.

         4. Email to be sent out to teachers (Katie) to ask what they would prefer.

   3. Music teacher project request - Becky

      1. Katie will get blocks from her next week to work on this, Jamie also available to help

   4. Parent participation forms - Becky

      1. Proposed positions and committees- we need extra help if anyone is available, an interest email will be sent out soon!

      2. Becky to send email to all of PTO asking for people to fill these positions if they would like

      1. A spreadsheet will be created. Auction is in March and we would love anyone and everyone to start reaching out for donations both big and small now please

   7. Feature parents in STEM jobs in parent room and on fb group - Becky

      1. If anyone has a job in a STEM career and is willing to be featured please let us know!

   8. Parent volunteer 1 day/week - Katie

      1. Katie will be going into the school on a set schedule every week (for now Tuesdays from 9-11) to help with any projects or prep the teachers need assistance for. An email has already gone out to the teachers and something will also be posted in the teachers lounge next week.

      2. If anyone else is available to help that would be amazing! Just let us know via the pto email.

5. Announcements and Questions

   1. Anyone planning on volunteering at the school needs to fill out the volunteer ichat form for Brick Elementary that can be found on the schools website

   2. The first meeting for the school play, The Jungle Book, is Wednesday September 21 in the auditorium for any interested students.

   3. Upcoming volunteer opportunities, sign up genius for these will be going out soon

      1. October 3 Mum pickup 4:30-6:30

      2. October 5 Picture day 9:30-12

      3. October 20 + pre prep for Trunk or Treat

      4. October 26 Grilling hot dogs for MSU vs UofM fun festivities

      5. October 27 Teacher lunch mainly just need someone to pickup and deliver lunch. Any store bought donations of desserts or snacks for the teachers would also be amazing!

      6. Weekly volunteer opportunity to help with teacher projects Tuesdays from 9-11

      7. The media specialist always needs extra hands to help with book checkout and reshelving. If you’re available you can contact her at toth@lincolnk12.org
